Check before you buy

Is your phone eSIM-ready?

Two things decide it: your device needs eSIM hardware, and it needs to be carrier-unlocked. Here’s how to check in under a minute.

eSIM-capable

Your phone’s hardware must support a digital SIM profile. Most phones released since 2018 qualify — see the full list below.

Carrier-unlocked

A phone still tied to a carrier contract can’t add a second, independent data line. If in doubt, ask your carrier whether your device is unlocked.

How to check on your phone

Takes about 30 seconds — no app required.

iPhone

Go to Settings › General › About and scroll down. If you see an Available SIM or EID entry, your iPhone supports eSIM.

Look for “Available SIM” / “EID”

Android

Open Settings and search for “SIM”. If you see an option like “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM”, you’re covered.

Look for “Add eSIM” / “Download a SIM”

Commonly supported devices

iPhone

XS, XR and all newer — 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series.

Google Pixel

3 and newer (carrier variations apply).

Samsung Galaxy

S20 and newer, Z Fold/Flip series, Note 20.

Others

Many recent Motorola, Huawei, Oppo, Sony and Microsoft Surface devices.

Note: iPhones sold in mainland China do not support eSIM (Apple removed the hardware for that market) — every other region’s iPhone from the XS/XR onward does.
